d-FY'S NEXT MEMBERSHIP DRIVE IS ON september 11TH, 2025!
DFY Vice President Dom Dibenedetto, and DFY members Johnathan Peat, Elijan Kuhn, and Ameerah Youssef attended the Sarasota School Board meeting and Woodland Middle on September 3rd. Dom talked about security for bathrooms while Johnathan discussed not being able to get to clubs or class on time because of the over-crowded buses and bus changes. The students also discussed continuing the Vaping Task Force with the Superintendent, Terry Connor!

D-FY's SECOND BEACH CLEAN UP OF THE SCHOOL YEAR WAS HELD AT MANASOTAS BEACH. WE COLLECTED 31.95 lbs OF TRASH, 27.9 lbs OF RECYCLING, AND APPROXIMATELY 666 CIGARETTE BUTTS. WHAT A SUCCESS!!

d-FY ATTENDED its second VAPING TASK FORCE with the superintendent TO continue working through plans that  were brainstromed in the first vaping task force!  A parent   came to share her daughter's story and how it tragically ended her life. 

D-FY'S FIRST FREE CAR WASH WAS HELD AT ADVANCED AUTO PARTS ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2025!

Thank you to Chick fil a, il primo, and the king Family for sponsoring the d-fy membership drive on 8/22/24 at the morgan community center where we approved 120 new drug free youth!

PROCESS FOR D-FY MEMBERSHIP:

CURRENTLY MEMBERSHIP  DRIVES which include the free drug screening ARE THE FIRST THURSDAY OF EVERY MONTH AT THE MORGAN FAMILY CENTER FROM 2:30-5:00.
  1. STUDENTS MUST  BE EITHER NORTH PORT RESIDENTS OR ATTEND NORTH PORT SCHOOLS TO BE ELIGIBLE.
  2.  D-FY IS OPEN TO GRADES 6-12 ONLY (Students   13 or younger require parent to be present)
  3. ​​​ALL STUDENTS   MUST    SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR MEMBERSHIP VIA Google Forms    ​
  4. APPOINTMENTS can only be made using the google appointment calendar. 
  5. Walk-in appointments may be available
  6. ABSOLUTELY NO APPOINTMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 5:20 PM.  
  7. PLEASE BE COURTEOUS TO OTHERS WHO HAVE MADE THEIR APPOINTMENTS, AND SHOW UP ON TIME.

What is D-Fy?
  • Drug-Free Youth (D-Fy) is an initiative for area youth in 6th through 12th grade.
  • D-Fy helps create a movement of peers who share a commitment to make positive choices and live a healthy, drug-free life.  
  • D-Fy also helps to grow a community culture to support these youth.
  • D-Fy members are eligible to receive local discounts and attend special D-Fy events.
  • North Port D-FY  members can apply for  free membership to the Morgan Family Community Center
 
To Become a Member:
​
  • Youth complete a membership application confirming their  commitment  to be  drug, alcohol, and tobacco free. 
  • All potential members validate this commitment through a   confidential drug screening  when they join, and agree to be screened randomly throughout their membership year.
  • Once the application is validated, members receive a photo ID  membership card  that entitles them to discounts at participating businesses and entrance to member-only events.  Voluntary membership is renewable on a yearly basis.


D-Fy Business Partners

  • D-Fy Business Partners are establishments that offer discounts or other special perks for D-Fy members 
  • are critical to the success of this initiative
  •  and help create a community culture that support youth who are making positive choices. 
  • D-Fy business partners receive free advertising on the D-Fy website, a “We Support Drug Free  Youth” window cling, and are identified as a partner in a variety D-Fy materials.
